2016 Pelham Farmer’s Market Information Package
Package includes:
On Thursday, May 21st, the Pelham Farmers Market participated in the Kids Can Grow Program when each child planted a sunflower seed to take home and grow. The flowers will be returned on September 17th to be judged in several categories. There were 75 children who participated ranging in age from 9 months to 12 years.
Pictured above is Lola and Will Cottingham after planting the seeds.
Riddle Family after planting their seeds – left to right, front is Marcus and Amelia, back is Olivia, Grayson and Vanessa with Mom.
Face painting was also popular. Pictured is Amelia Priestley.
For the past few years, Ross has worked to promote the Pelham Farmers Market through special programs for the young, and the young at heart.
Ross has helped-out at the market for many years with the Kids’ Programs such as KIDS CAN GROW and pumpkin judging.
This includes the annual burlap bag cutting (instead of a ribbon cutting) for the first market of the year, and the annual KIDS CAN GROW and pumpkin judging contest; in that contest, seeds are given to children in the spring and participants bring back a mature pumpkin in the fall for judging. (A little nature vs. nurture experiment, perhaps.)
Writes the Market Committee: “Ross is always willing to help where he can and is regularly involved with every program at the market.
We are very happy to nominate Ross for the 2014 Peer Award!”
Presented annually in November, the “Peer Award” recognizes exemplary volunteers within the Town of Pelham. The Peer Award winners are nominated to receive the award by fellow members of the community service organizations that they participate in.
This year myPelham.com was honoured to be presented with the Corporate Recognition Award thanks to the nominations that we received from our local Volunteer Community.
